Learner Driver Cover Insurance Benefits

The RED Marmalade Learner Insurance Learner Driver Insurance policy provides cover for learner drivers whilst undertaking driving tuition. Learner drivers covered by RED Marmalade Learner Insurance can use the Learner Driver Insurance policy to cover their parents or friend's car whilst they learn to drive, without any risk to their insurance. It's a simple way to get behind the wheel confident that you are covered without paying large extra premiums for adding a learner driver to a standard car insurance policy.

And if you do have an accident whilst driving the car, the claim is made on the learner driver's insurance policy and not the car owners - so there No Claims Bonus is safe!

Who can supervise me whilst I'm learning to drive?

Any driver who is over 25, who currently holds a valid full UK driving licence and has had the licence at least three years can accompany you. It need not be the person who owns the car.

Does the policy also cover other learner drivers driving the same car?

No, the policy only covers the named learner driver in the named vehicle.

Can I change my mind?

For policies of more than 30 days a 14 day "cooling off" period applies. If you cancel within 14 days we will refund the days left on the policy, minus an administration fee of £10 for policies up to 180 days and £20 for the annual policy*.

If your policy is for 7, 14 or 30 days, there is no cooling off period, due to the short-term nature of the policy.

If you have purchased a 1 year policy, and you cancel after the 14 day cooling off you may be entitled to a refund, provided you have not made a claim. This is based on the number of days left of the policy, minus a £50 administration fee.

For full details on our cancellation policy, please read our Terms of Business

If you pass your driving test within the duration of your Marmalade Learner Insurance policy, your policy will be cancelled and the above rules (relating to cancellation within and outside the 14 day Cooling Off Period) will be applied.

What happens if I pass my test?

Cover will stop immediately when you pass, so make sure you have someone to drive you home!

If you have purchased a 1 year policy, please advise us on passing your test as you may be entitled to a refund, provided you have not made a claim. This is based on the number of days left of the policy, minus a £50 administration fee. Please read the terms of business for full information.

Who provides the cover?

The policy is underwritten by Ageas Insurance Limited.
